How to Choose the Right UK University
With over 160 universities in the UK, the choice can be overwhelming. For Nepali students, the key factors are:
- Entry requirements — do they match your qualifications and IELTS score?
- Tuition fees — within your budget?
- Course availability — does the specific course and specialisation you want exist?
- Graduate employability — what percentage of graduates find graduate-level work?
- Location — city vs. smaller town; cost of living varies significantly
- Nepali student community — some universities have larger, more active Nepali societies
Russell Group Universities
The Russell Group is a coalition of 24 research-intensive UK universities including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, UCL, and Edinburgh. These are the most prestigious and competitive — and generally require IELTS 7.0+ and very strong academic results.
For most Nepali students, Russell Group universities are achievable for postgraduate programmes with strong academic backgrounds. Read our full Russell Group guide for Nepal.
