How to Prepare for Your Free Consultation
You can arrive with nothing and still get a useful session. But bringing four things turns a general conversation into a specific plan on the first visit.
- Academic transcripts and mark sheets. Your NEB +2 results, or your Bachelor's transcript from Tribhuvan, Kathmandu, Pokhara or Purbanchal. This is what determines which universities are realistic, and without it any shortlist is guesswork.
- An IELTS score report, if you have one. If you do not, that is fine — over 25 UK universities accept a Medium of Instruction letter from Nepali graduates instead, saving up to NPR 35,000. We will tell you in the session whether your target universities are among them.
- A rough budget figure. Not an exact number, just what your family can realistically fund. UKVI requires you to evidence GBP 10,539 outside London or GBP 13,761 for London for 28 consecutive days, on top of tuition, so budget shapes the shortlist as much as grades do.
- Any offers or refusals already received. Including refusals from other countries. A previous refusal must be declared on a UK application, and it is far easier to plan around when we know at the start.
If you have none of this yet, come anyway. The first session is about mapping which route fits your profile, and that conversation is useful long before the paperwork exists.
Why Is the Consultation Free? The Honest Answer
Because House of Admissions is paid by the universities, not by you. When a student enrols at a partner university, that university pays HOA a referral commission. That is the standard model across UK international recruitment, and it is why the service can be free to students at every stage — consultation, applications, SOP review, scholarship matching and visa file preparation included.
The fair question that follows is whether commission creates an incentive to steer you toward a higher-paying university rather than the right one. It can, at any agency, which is why the checks matter more than the promise: HOA operates to UK Agent Quality Framework principles, all 20+ counsellors individually hold the British Council's UK Agent and Counsellor Training Certification Award, and you should ask directly in your session why a specific university is on your shortlist. A good answer references your grades, budget and course. A weak answer talks about the university in general terms.
What you still pay for: official third-party fees only — the GBP 558 UK visa fee, the Immigration Health Surcharge at GBP 776 per year, the TB test, and the NPR 2,000 NOC from MoEST. These go to governments and clinics, never to HOA.
Free Consultation Questions Answered
Yes — completely free with no conditions. All consultations, SOP writing, document checking, application submission, scholarship research, visa preparation, and pre-departure briefing are free. HOA is compensated by UK partner universities when you enrol. There is no service fee, no processing fee, no document fee, and no hidden charges. This model has operated since 2016.
A first consultation usually runs 30 to 60 minutes: a profile assessment against UK entry requirements, an initial shortlist from HOA’s 153 UK partner universities, a realistic cost estimate in NPR, and a timeline worked backwards from your target intake. Follow-up sessions are unlimited and also free.
No. There is nothing to sign and no obligation. Many students take a first consultation, compare it against other consultancies, and come back later. HOA is paid a referral commission by partner universities when a student enrols, so nothing is charged to you either way.
As of August 2026, January 2027 is open at most UK universities and is the intake most students are working toward. November 2026 is open at a small number of institutions, and September 2026 has closed for main-cycle applications. For a January 2027 start, begin around October 2026 so the NOC and 28-day bank balance are in place in time.
You get an honest assessment rather than an automatic yes. UK universities accept a wide range: a 2:2 equivalent, roughly 50–55% or a GPA near 2.4, opens far more institutions than most applicants expect, and where direct entry is not realistic a foundation or pre-master’s route progresses into the same degree. HOA will also tell you when a target university is a poor fit.
Not to you. Consultation, university applications, SOP review, scholarship matching, visa file preparation and pre-departure briefing are all free. You pay only official third-party fees that go to governments and test providers, never to HOA: the UK visa fee (£558), the Immigration Health Surcharge (£776 per year), the TB test and the NPR 2,000 NOC.
