January Intake in UK 2027 from Nepal: Deadlines, Open Universities and What to Do Now

Not yet, as of 15 October 2026, but the window is short. Most universities in HOA’s table still accept January 2027 applications until late November or mid-December 2026, and some have already closed (Bedfordshire closed on 2 and 9 October). It is realistic if your documents are ready now and your visa money can be in the bank by mid-November. If not, the February 2027, May 2027 or September 2027 intakes are safer.

There is no single deadline: each university sets its own. From the official pages HOA checked on 15 October 2026: Brunel recommends applying by 13 November, Birmingham City University asks applicants from Nepal to apply by 18 November, Northumbria by 30 November, UWE Bristol by 27 November, Kingston by 11 December and Liverpool by 18 December 2026 (30 November for some courses). CAS cut-offs fall between 30 November and 18 December. Apply at least four weeks before the published date.

Universities with January 2027 entry on their official pages include Birmingham, Liverpool, Queen Mary, Brunel, Kingston, Northumbria, Birmingham City University, Hertfordshire, Manchester Metropolitan, Middlesex, the University of East London, UWE Bristol and Salford. Most open only selected courses, mainly business, computing, data science, engineering, law and health. HOA confirms course-level availability free before you apply.

Yes, for selected masters. Birmingham, Liverpool and Queen Mary University of London list January 2027 programmes, mostly in business, computing, engineering, law and health. Expect IELTS 6.5 with no band below 6.0 for courses such as International Business, and note that Russell Group universities generally do not accept MOI letters in place of IELTS.

As soon as your CAS arrives, usually in late November or December 2026. You can apply up to six months before your course starts, and decisions usually take about three weeks from outside the UK. Your 28-day bank statement must end within 31 days of the application date.

You need any first-year tuition not yet paid (shown on your CAS) plus living costs. For visa applications made on or after 30 November 2026, which covers almost every January 2027 applicant, living costs are £10,827 outside London or £14,130 in London (about NPR 21.1 or 27.6 lakhs at NPR 195 per pound); before 30 November they are £10,539 or £13,761. The money must be held for 28 consecutive days. For example, an unpaid £19,950 fee outside London means about £30,777, or roughly NPR 60.0 lakhs.

Often, yes. Universities including Hertfordshire and the University of East London accept a Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter from eligible Nepali graduates, based on HOA partner data, saving up to NPR 35,000 and 2 to 3 months. Russell Group universities generally still ask for IELTS, and nursing registration with the NMC always needs IELTS Academic 7.0 (6.5 writing) or OET grade B (C+ in writing).

18 months for a bachelor’s or master’s graduate. Graduate Route applications made on or after 1 January 2027 get 18 months instead of 2 years (PhD graduates still get 3 years). A one-year January 2027 masters ends around January 2028, so the application falls under the 18-month rule.

Using 2026/27 fees, a one-year MSc International Business costs about £36,108 all-in at Hertfordshire (about NPR 70.4 lakhs) and £48,158 at Liverpool (about NPR 93.9 lakhs). Both include living costs at the UKVI rate of £1,203 a month for 12 months outside London, the £558 visa fee and £1,164 Immigration Health Surcharge. Flights, deposits and the TB test are extra.

Yes, mostly university awards. Queen Mary offers £5,000 and £7,000 January 2027 scholarships for overseas-fee students in business, economics and law, and many universities give automatic international discounts. Chevening only funds September starts, and GREAT Scholarships are not open to Nepal for 2026/27. HOA applies for every award you qualify for, free.

Yes. Every Nepali student going abroad needs a No Objection Certificate from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. Apply online at noc.moest.gov.np (NPR 2,000, usually 1 to 5 working days). You need it before your bank sends the tuition deposit and before the visa application, so get it in November.

Tell your university at once. Most set a latest arrival date for each intake and some will move you to a later start, but a late or deferred start may need a new CAS and a new visa application. Applying for the visa in early December, not late December, avoids most of this risk.

Not worse, but narrower. September has far more courses and is the only route for Chevening. January suits students whose results, IELTS or funds were not ready for September, and the courses on offer are full degrees with the same qualification. Check whether your course runs 12 or 16 months, because a longer course costs more.
