UK Intakes — September 2027

UK September 2027 IntakeThe Main Cycle — 153 Universities, Chevening, Full Russell Group

September is the intake the UK academic year is built around. Every one of House of Admissions’ 153 partner universities runs it, Chevening aligns to it, and course choice is at its widest. If you are applying from Nepal in 2026, this is the cycle to plan for — and the applications open from autumn 2026.

UCAS dates and cycle information last checked: 22 August 2026. Exact university deadlines for September 2027 are published progressively through late 2026 and early 2027. HOA confirms current dates for your specific universities free before you apply.

September 2027 UK intake, in short: the main UK cycle, open at all 153 House of Admissions partner universities including the full Russell Group. Applications open from autumn 2026; HOA recommends submitting by January to March 2027 rather than waiting for published deadlines, because merit scholarship funds are allocated first-come. Chevening applications close in early November 2026 for a September 2027 start. You must evidence £10,539 outside London or £13,761 for London for 28 consecutive days, plus the £558 visa fee and £776 per year Immigration Health Surcharge. The Graduate Route gives 18 months of unrestricted post-study work for anyone starting this intake, since applications filed on or after 1 January 2027 fall under the revised rule.

Why September Is the Intake Worth Planning For

The differences between UK intakes are structural, not marketing. Here is what actually changes.

UK intake comparison for Nepali students. Maintenance requirements and Graduate Route duration are identical across intakes; what differs is choice, funding and competition.

Reading this honestly: September wins on choice and funding, and loses on competition and accommodation. If you want Chevening, a Russell Group university, or a course that only runs once a year, September is not merely better — it is the only option. If you are ready now and your target universities run January, waiting a further nine months for a wider list you may not use is usually the weaker decision. The Graduate Route is 18 months either way, so post-study work is not a tiebreaker.

Which universities will be open?

All 153 HOA partner universities run a September intake, which is the defining advantage of this cycle. Course-level availability for September 2027 is published progressively by universities through late 2026 and early 2027, so a fixed list this far ahead would go stale rather than help you. What HOA does instead is confirm the current open list for your specific subject, grade profile and budget, free of charge, at the point you are ready to apply.

A caution about lists you will see elsewhere. Any site publishing a definitive September 2027 course list in 2026 is either copying last year’s data or guessing. Entry requirements, fees and scholarship values change between cycles. Check the university’s own course page for anything you are relying on, and treat an undated list as unreliable.

September 2027 Application Timeline from Nepal

Working backwards from a September 2027 start. The visa chain runs behind the application, which is why the real deadline is earlier than the published one.

  1. Sep 2026 – Dec 2026

    Shortlist, English evidence, Chevening

Map your grades to UK entry requirements and confirm whether your target universities accept an MOI letter in place of IELTS — over 25 do, saving up to NPR 35,000, though Russell Group universities generally still require IELTS. If you want Chevening, apply in this window: it closes in early November 2026 and aligns to September only.

  2. Nov 2026 – Mar 2027

Submit applications early in the cycle

UCAS undergraduate applications open from autumn 2026. Early applicants get first access to merit scholarship funds and to courses that close before the published deadline. You can apply in your final year with a conditional offer — waiting for final results usually costs you the early-cycle advantage.

  3. Feb 2027 – May 2027

Accept an offer and pay the deposit

Convert conditional offers with final transcripts, choose between offers, and pay the tuition deposit. Keep the receipt: tuition already paid reduces the maintenance you must evidence, and an understated deposit on the CAS is a common and costly error.

  4. Apr 2027 – Jun 2027

Hold the maintenance funds for 28 days

Hold £10,539 outside London or £13,761 for London for 28 consecutive days, counted back from the closing balance date. Any Nepal Rastra Bank-regulated Class A commercial bank qualifies — UKVI publishes no approved-bank list for Nepal, so there is no need to move money, which would only reset the clock.

  5. May 2027 – Jun 2027

CAS, then NOC, then tuition transfer

Request your CAS and check that name order, passport number and course dates match your passport exactly. Then apply for the NOC at noc.moest.gov.np for NPR 2,000, processed in one to five working days. The sequence is fixed: offer, CAS, NOC, transfer, visa — getting it out of order is one of the most common avoidable delays.

  6. Jun 2027 – Jul 2027

Submit the UK Student Visa application

Submit with your CAS, financial evidence, TB test certificate and NOC, then attend the VFS biometric appointment. UKVI publishes a three-week decision standard for applications made outside the UK, though Nepali applicants have seen longer waits in recent cycles.

  7. Aug 2027 – Sep 2027

    Pre-departure and arrival

Arrange accommodation early, since September is when halls fill fastest. Complete the free HOA pre-departure briefing and arrive one to two weeks before your course start date.

What September 2027 Costs from Nepal

Converted at the Nepal Rastra Bank reference rate of NPR 195 per GBP. UKVI converts using the OANDA spot rate on your application date, so confirm before submitting.

The London premium is bigger than tuition suggests. Beyond higher fees, London carries a maintenance requirement £3,222 higher — roughly NPR 6.3 lakhs more that you must actually hold in an account for 28 days. For a budget-constrained applicant, an outside-London university is usually the difference between a viable application and an impossible one.

September 2027 Intake — Frequently Asked Questions

The UCAS 2027 undergraduate cycle opens from autumn 2026, and most postgraduate applications open between September 2026 and January 2027 depending on the university. Applying in the first months of the cycle materially improves your position: scholarship funds are allocated first-come at many universities, and popular courses close before the published deadline. HOA recommends submitting by January to March 2027 for a September 2027 start rather than waiting for the final deadline.

It is the intake the UK academic year is built around. All 153 House of Admissions partner universities run a September start, the full Russell Group is available, Chevening and most major scholarships align to it, and course choice is at its widest. January runs at roughly 30 to 40 universities and May at a small number of mostly London and specialist institutions, so both are narrower by design rather than by chance.

Eighteen months for a bachelor's or master's graduate, and three years for a PhD. The duration is set by the date you file the Graduate Route application, not by your course dates, and applications filed on or after 1 January 2027 fall under the revised 18-month rule. A September 2027 start means you graduate in late 2028 at the earliest, so the earlier 2-year version is not available from this intake. Anyone telling you otherwise is quoting a rule that has already changed.

Yes, and September is the only intake Chevening aligns to. Applications typically open in August and close in early November of the preceding year, so a September 2027 start means applying around August to November 2026. Chevening is fully funded, covering tuition, a stipend, flights and the visa. House of Admissions has supported 50+ Chevening scholars and provides application support free of charge.

Earlier than the published one, because the visa chain runs behind the application. You need an offer, then a CAS, then the NOC from Nepal's Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, then the tuition transfer, then a visa application with 28 consecutive days of maintenance evidence already held. Working backwards from a September start, funds should be in place by April to May 2027 and the visa application submitted by June to July 2027.

GBP 10,539 for study outside London or GBP 13,761 for London, held for 28 consecutive days counted back from the closing balance date, with evidence dated within 31 days of applying. That is roughly NPR 20.5 lakhs and NPR 26.8 lakhs at the Nepal Rastra Bank reference rate of NPR 195 per GBP, on top of any tuition still unpaid. UKVI publishes no approved-bank list for Nepal, so any Nepal Rastra Bank-regulated Class A commercial bank qualifies.

Take January 2027 if you are ready now and your target universities run it, because a year is a long time to wait for a wider list you may not need. Wait for September 2027 if you want Chevening, a Russell Group university, a specific course that only runs in September, or if you need the extra months to raise funds and sit IELTS properly. The Graduate Route is 18 months either way, so post-study work is not a reason to choose between them.

Often yes. Over 25 UK universities accept a Medium of Instruction letter from Tribhuvan, Kathmandu, Pokhara and Purbanchal graduates instead of IELTS, saving up to NPR 35,000 and two to three months. Acceptance is decided by each university and each programme rather than by UKVI, and Russell Group universities generally still require IELTS. NMC nursing registration always requires IELTS Academic 7.0 in reading, listening and speaking with 6.5 in writing, or OET Grade B, regardless of MOI.

No. Most UK universities accept applications while you are in your final year and issue a conditional offer pending your final transcript. For a September 2027 start that means applying from late 2026 while completing your final semester in Nepal, then converting the conditional offer once results are published. Waiting for results before applying usually costs you the early-cycle scholarship advantage.

The refusal notice states the specific paragraph of the Immigration Rules that was not met, and that paragraph is what must be addressed before reapplying. There is no waiting period, but reapplying with the same evidence usually produces the same result. Most preventable refusals from Nepal come from the 28-day maintenance evidence, NOC timing or CAS inconsistencies rather than from weak grades. HOA reviews refusal notices free of charge, including for students who did not apply through HOA.

Yes, at every stage. Consultation, university shortlisting, applications, SOP review, scholarship matching, CAS coordination and visa file preparation carry no charge. HOA is paid a referral commission by partner universities when a student enrols, never by the student. You pay only official third-party fees: the GBP 558 visa fee, the Immigration Health Surcharge at GBP 776 per year, the TB test and the NPR 2,000 NOC.

All 153 House of Admissions partner universities run a September intake, which is the defining advantage of this cycle over January or May. Course-level availability for September 2027 is published by universities progressively through late 2026 and early 2027, so a named list this far ahead would go stale rather than help. HOA confirms the current open list for your specific subject and grade profile free of charge before you prepare documents.

Why Nepali Students Choose the UK for Higher Education — and HOA for Guidance

The United Kingdom is a popular higher-education destination for Nepali students. A UK bachelor’s degree typically takes three years and a taught master’s one year, which can reduce the total years of study compared with four-year systems elsewhere. Several UK universities — including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London and UCL — rank in the global top tier, and more than 40 UK institutions appear in the QS World University Rankings top 200 (QS World University Rankings). Tuition varies by course and university and is listed on each university page; House of Admissions matches each student to programmes that fit their budget and academic profile.

The UK Student Visa, governed by Appendix Student of the UK Immigration Rules, permits up to 20 hours of paid work per week during term time and full-time work during vacations (UK Home Office, gov.uk/student-visa), helping students offset living costs. The required 28-day maintenance balance is £10,539 for study outside London (≈ NPR 20.5 lakhs at NPR 195/£1) or £13,761 for London (≈ NPR 26.8 lakhs), per UK Home Office guidance. House of Admissions prepares complete visa files, with a reported 99% approval rate across applications it has supported (self-reported).

Living costs vary by city. Per HESA and UCAS estimates, students in cities such as Birmingham, Manchester and Loughborough typically budget around NPR 14–22 lakhs per year, compared with NPR 25 lakhs or more in London. Nepali graduates who studied in English at Tribhuvan University, Pokhara University, Kathmandu University or Purbanchal University can apply to 25+ UK universities via a Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter instead of IELTS — saving up to NPR 35,000 in examination and preparation costs and 2–3 months of preparation, where the chosen university accepts MOI.

After graduation, the Graduate Route grants unrestricted work with no job offer or sponsor required (UK Home Office, gov.uk/graduate-visa). Its length depends on when the Graduate Route application is filed, not on the course dates: 18 months for applications filed on or after 1 January 2027, and 2 years only for those filed on or before 31 December 2026 (PhD graduates keep 3 years either way). Because a student beginning a UK course now will file well after that cutoff, the 18-month figure is the realistic planning number. Graduate Route time does not count toward the standard 5-year Skilled Worker settlement clock; the usual path is Graduate Route → switch to the Skilled Worker visa at the £38,700 salary threshold → Indefinite Leave to Remain after five qualifying years on the Skilled Worker route.

House of Admissions has secured £2M+ in scholarships for Nepali students since 2016 (self-reported), including 50+ Chevening placements (funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office), GREAT Scholarships (£10,000 partial awards), Commonwealth Scholarships (fully funded), and university merit awards of £2,000–£10,000+. Scholarship matching is included in HOA’s free service. Schools, colleges and organisations in Nepal can offer HOA’s UK guidance to their communities through a free partnership arrangement.
