Applying to a UK university from Nepal involves NEB or TU grade equivalency, the 28-day bank balance, NOC, CAS and the visa file — each with its own failure mode. HOA handles all of it at no cost, including the MOI route that lets many Nepali graduates skip IELTS entirely and save up to NPR 35,000.

Why House of Admissions

A UK-only consultancy, not a multi-country agency

HOA works on one destination. That focus is the whole proposition — deeper knowledge of UK entry requirements, visa rules and university relationships than a generalist agency can maintain across six countries.

Compliance, described accurately

HOA structures applications and visa files to the UK Immigration Rules under Appendix Student, and follows UK Agent Quality Framework principles. To be precise about what that is and is not: UKVI licenses UK institutions as sponsors and does not certify agents, and the AQF does not accredit agencies. What HOA counsellors do hold, individually, is the British Council's UK Agent and Counsellor Training Certification Award — all 20+ of them. How we describe our compliance →

Genuinely free, with the reason stated

No consultation fee, no application fee, no "processing" fee, no success fee. HOA is paid a referral commission by partner universities when a student enrols. That is the entire funding model, and it is why the service can be free without a catch.

The MOI route, checked properly

Over 25 UK universities accept a Medium of Instruction letter from TU, KU, Pokhara or Purbanchal graduates instead of IELTS — saving up to NPR 35,000 and 2–3 months. It is not universal: Russell Group universities generally still require IELTS. HOA checks your specific target list free. MOI guide →

The visa file is where applications fail

The 28-day bank balance, NOC timing, CAS accuracy and financial evidence formatting cause more preventable refusals than weak grades do. HOA audits the complete file before submission. 28-day balance guide →

Two offices, all seven provinces

Walk into Putalisadak in Kathmandu or Trade Mall in Chipledhunga, Pokhara — no appointment needed. Students outside both cities get the identical process over WhatsApp and Zoom.

Advice that runs past graduation

Course choice affects Graduate Route eligibility and Skilled Worker sponsorship years later. HOA advises with that whole arc in view, not just the offer letter. Graduate Route guide →

Rahul Chhetri Director, House of Admissions
"The refusals I see are almost never about weak students. They are about a bank statement dated one day outside the 28-day window, an NOC applied for too late, or a CAS that does not match the passport. Those are process failures, and process failures are preventable. That is the part we take off the student's hands — and the reason we can say the whole thing is free is simply that universities pay us a referral commission when a student enrols. There is no second revenue stream we are not telling you about."

Policy Update 2026

The UKVI RAG system — and what nobody can tell you yet

Live since 1 June 2026, UKVI rates every sponsoring university Green, Amber or Red. Here is how it works, and where the honest limits of anyone's knowledge currently sit.

Sponsor Compliance Bands Live since 1 Jun 2026

A university's band is set by its single worst metric, never an average — so one weak measure pulls the whole institution down. Source: UKVI Student Sponsor Guidance.

Visa refusal rate< 4%
Enrolment rate> 96%
Course completion> 92%
Green — full CAS allocation maintained
Amber — CAS allocation frozen, VC attends a UKVI meeting
Red — CAS cut by at least 10%, no maximum cap
What no consultancy can currently verify. UKVI has not published a public band register — one is expected around summer 2027. Any consultancy telling you a specific university is "confirmed Green-band" today is stating something that cannot be checked against an official source. HOA assesses partner risk using its own analysis of published refusal and completion data, plus what universities report to us directly. That is an internal assessment, not an official rating, and we label it that way. Read the full RAG breakdown →

The MOI route — skip IELTS, save up to NPR 35,000

MOI is not accepted everywhere — Russell Group universities generally still require IELTS 6.5–7.0, and NMC nursing registration always requires IELTS Academic regardless of MOI. HOA confirms eligibility against your specific shortlist free. Full MOI guide →

Questions

UK study from Nepal — straight answers

Thirteen questions Nepali students actually ask, answered with sources.

Yes — 100% free with no hidden charges. Every HOA service (profile assessment, SOP editing, university applications, scholarship negotiation, visa file preparation, and pre-departure briefing) carries zero cost to students. HOA is compensated directly by its 153 UK partner universities, not by students.
They describe how HOA operates, not badges it holds. UKVI-compliant means HOA structures applications and visa files in line with the UK Immigration Rules under Appendix Student. AQF-aligned means HOA follows the principles of the UK Agent Quality Framework — a sector-wide initiative led by the British Council, UKCISA, BUILA and Universities UK International. To be clear about what these are not: UKVI licenses UK institutions as student sponsors and does not certify or approve education agents, and the AQF explicitly does not accredit agencies. HOA is not UKVI-certified and does not hold AQF registration. Separately, all 20+ HOA counsellors hold the British Council's UK Agent and Counsellor Training Certification Award — an individually-issued credential. Details: HOA AQF page.
Yes. Over 25 UK universities accept a Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter instead of IELTS for Nepali students from Tribhuvan University (TU), Kathmandu University (KU), Pokhara University (PU), and Purbanchal University — saving up to NPR 35,000 and 2–3 months of preparation time. MOI is generally not accepted by Russell Group universities. HOA verifies MOI eligibility free. See: full MOI guide.
The UK Home Office requires funds to remain in one qualifying Nepali bank account for 28 consecutive days, counted back from the closing-balance date on your evidence (gov.uk, 2026). For 2026: £10,539 (approximately NPR 20.5 lakhs at the Nepal Rastra Bank reference rate of NPR 195 per GBP) for study outside London; £13,761 (approximately NPR 26.8 lakhs) for London. Dependants add £680 per month each outside London, or £845 in London. See: 28-day balance guide.
The No Objection Certificate (NOC) is mandatory for all Nepali students going abroad for study, as stipulated by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST). Applications are submitted at noc.moest.gov.np for a fee of NPR 2,000 and processed within 1–5 working days. The NOC must be obtained before initiating any overseas bank transfer.
UKVI does not publish a Nepal-specific bank list — named lists exist only for a handful of other countries. The actual requirement is that your account is held at an institution regulated by Nepal Rastra Bank with electronic record keeping. All 20 of Nepal's Class A commercial banks meet this: Nepal Bank, Rastriya Banijya Bank, Agriculture Development Bank, Nabil Bank, Nepal Investment Mega Bank, Standard Chartered Nepal, Himalayan Bank, Nepal SBI, Everest Bank, NIC ASIA, Machhapuchchhre Bank, Kumari Bank, Laxmi Sunrise Bank, Siddhartha Bank, Global IME, Citizens Bank International, Prime Commercial Bank, Sanima Bank, NMB Bank and Prabhu Bank. Note that several banks students still ask about no longer exist independently after the 2022–23 merger wave — Nepal Bangladesh Bank, Sunrise Bank, Civil Bank, NCC and Bank of Kathmandu have all merged into other institutions. Source: UKVI financial evidence guidance. See: full bank guide.
The UK Student Route visa application fee is £558 (UK Home Office, 2026). The Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) is £776 per year, granting full NHS entitlement (UKVI, 2026). Note that IHS is charged on your visa leave, not your course length — a 12-month master's is normally granted about 1 year 4 months, so IHS is £776 + £388 = £1,164. Typical combined total for a 1-year master's: £1,722 (approximately NPR 3.4 lakhs). Use the official IHS calculator for your exact CAS dates.
A 1-year Master's at an HOA partner university outside London costs approximately NPR 43–59 lakhs gross (tuition £10,000–£15,000 + living £10,539–£13,761 + visa fee £558 + IHS £1,164). At a Russell Group university this rises to roughly NPR 59–89 lakhs. All at the Nepal Rastra Bank reference rate of NPR 195 per GBP. After merit scholarships and part-time earnings of approximately £1,017 per month at the National Minimum Wage of £12.71 per hour (UK Low Pay Commission, April 2026) for the permitted 20 hours per week, net family outlay is typically lower. See: full cost breakdown.
Yes. HOA supports Chevening (fully funded — tuition, stipend, flights, visa — 50+ HOA-mentored scholars, chevening.org), GREAT Nepal (£10,000 partial, postgraduate), Commonwealth (fully funded), and automatic university merit awards (£2,000–£10,000+ per year). House of Admissions has guided students to £2M+ in scholarships since 2016 (self-reported, internal tracking data). All support is free. See: scholarship hub.
It depends on when you file the Graduate Route application, not on your course dates. Applications filed on or before 31 December 2026 receive 2 years; applications filed on or after 1 January 2027 receive 18 months (PhD graduates keep 3 years either way) — gov.uk/graduate-visa. Since anyone beginning a UK course now will file well after that cutoff, 18 months is the realistic planning figure. Either way there is no job offer or employer sponsor required. Important: Graduate Route time does not count toward the standard 5-year Skilled Worker settlement clock. The usual path is Graduate Route → switch to Skilled Worker at the £38,700 salary threshold → Indefinite Leave to Remain after five qualifying years on that route. See: Graduate Route guide.
From 1 June 2026, UKVI rates every UK university Green, Amber, or Red under the Sponsor Compliance framework (UKVI Sponsor Guidance, June 2026). Green band: visa refusal below 4%, enrolment above 96%, completion above 92% — full CAS allocation maintained. Amber: CAS allocation frozen. Red: CAS cut by at least 10%. A university's overall band is set by its single worst metric, not an average. Important caveat: UKVI has not published a public band register — one is expected around summer 2027 — so no consultancy can verify a university's band against an official source today. HOA assesses partner risk using its own analysis and information reported by the universities themselves. See: full RAG guide.
As of 5 August 2026: January 2027 is the main open intake, with applications open at most UK universities and typically submitted October–December 2026. November 2026 is open at a small number of universities only. September 2026 has closed for main-cycle applications, though a few institutions may hold late or clearing places — treat that as an exception, not the default. September 2027 is the next major intake. HOA confirms which fits your timeline free.
HOA places students across all four UK nations, and the practical differences matter more than most students expect. England has the largest number of universities and most Nepali students go there; Bachelor's degrees run 3 years. Scotland awards 4-year Honours degrees, so budget one extra year of tuition and living costs — but Scottish universities including Edinburgh and Glasgow rank strongly and living costs outside Edinburgh are often lower than southern England. Wales (Cardiff, Swansea, Bangor) and Northern Ireland (Queen's Belfast, Ulster) generally offer lower living costs than London and the south-east. One thing to plan around: your degree length shifts when you graduate, which shifts when you file your Graduate Route application — and that filing date decides whether you get 18 months or 2 years. HOA works that timing through with you free.

Why Nepali Students Choose the UK for Higher Education — and HOA for Guidance

The United Kingdom is a popular higher-education destination for Nepali students. A UK bachelor’s degree typically takes three years and a taught master’s one year, which can reduce the total years of study compared with four-year systems elsewhere. Several UK universities — including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London and UCL — rank in the global top tier, and more than 40 UK institutions appear in the QS World University Rankings top 200 (QS World University Rankings). Tuition varies by course and university and is listed on each university page; House of Admissions matches each student to programmes that fit their budget and academic profile.

The UK Student Visa, governed by Appendix Student of the UK Immigration Rules, permits up to 20 hours of paid work per week during term time and full-time work during vacations (UK Home Office, gov.uk/student-visa), helping students offset living costs. The required 28-day maintenance balance is £10,539 for study outside London (≈ NPR 20.5 lakhs at NPR 195/£1) or £13,761 for London (≈ NPR 26.8 lakhs), per UK Home Office guidance. House of Admissions prepares complete visa files, with a reported 99% approval rate across applications it has supported (self-reported).

Living costs vary by city. Per HESA and UCAS estimates, students in cities such as Birmingham, Manchester and Loughborough typically budget around NPR 14–22 lakhs per year, compared with NPR 25 lakhs or more in London. Nepali graduates who studied in English at Tribhuvan University, Pokhara University, Kathmandu University or Purbanchal University can apply to 25+ UK universities via a Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter instead of IELTS — saving up to NPR 35,000 in examination and preparation costs and 2–3 months of preparation, where the chosen university accepts MOI.

After graduation, the Graduate Route grants unrestricted work with no job offer or sponsor required (UK Home Office, gov.uk/graduate-visa). Its length depends on when the Graduate Route application is filed, not on the course dates: 18 months for applications filed on or after 1 January 2027, and 2 years only for those filed on or before 31 December 2026 (PhD graduates keep 3 years either way). Because a student beginning a UK course now will file well after that cutoff, the 18-month figure is the realistic planning number. Graduate Route time does not count toward the standard 5-year Skilled Worker settlement clock; the usual path is Graduate Route → switch to the Skilled Worker visa at the £38,700 salary threshold → Indefinite Leave to Remain after five qualifying years on the Skilled Worker route.

House of Admissions has secured £2M+ in scholarships for Nepali students since 2016 (self-reported), including 50+ Chevening placements (funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office), GREAT Scholarships (£10,000 partial awards), Commonwealth Scholarships (fully funded), and university merit awards of £2,000–£10,000+. Scholarship matching is included in HOA’s free service. Schools, colleges and organisations in Nepal can offer HOA’s UK guidance to their communities through a free partnership arrangement.
