The clearest single test is what they charge you. Legitimate UK education consultancies are usually paid by universities after a student enrols, not by families. The other reliable signals are promises that a visa is certain, pressure to decide today, and any suggestion that you leave something off an application.

How to Spot a Dishonest Education Consultancy in Nepal — Nine Warning Signs

We are a consultancy telling you how to judge consultancies, including us. Apply every test on this page to House of Admissions before you apply it to anyone else.

The clearest single test is what they charge you. Legitimate UK education consultancies are usually paid by universities after a student enrols, not by families. The other reliable signals are guaranteed visa claims, pressure to decide today, and any suggestion that you leave something off an application. The last of those is not a warning sign — it is a reason to leave immediately.

This page is about judging an agency before you commit. For a specific document scam see fake offer letters; for what happens if false information is submitted see document fraud consequences.

The Nine Signs

Warning signs when choosing an education consultancy in Nepal, and what each one actually indicates. None of these requires inside knowledge — every one can be checked from outside the agency.
SignWhat it means
1. They charge you a service fee Legitimate agencies are paid by universities after enrolment. Ask what the fee buys, in writing
2. They guarantee a visa Nobody can. Decisions rest with UKVI. A guarantee is either ignorance or dishonesty
3. They advise leaving something out Leave. This is advice to make a false representation, and you carry the consequence
4. Pressure to decide or pay today Urgency is a sales technique. Real deadlines are published by universities and UCAS
5. They will not talk to your parents alone An agency confident in its numbers does not mind who hears them
6. They claim official certification that does not exist UKVI licenses universities, not agents. “UKVI-certified agent” is not a real credential
7. They push one university regardless of your profile Commission-led advice rather than fit-led advice
8. Nothing is in writing If it is not written down, it was not promised
9. They discourage you from contacting the university Every university will confirm an application and an agent relationship. There is no reason to prevent this

What Should You Ask Before Committing?

  1. “What do you charge me, and for what?” Get the answer in writing.
  2. “Who pays you if I do not?” A legitimate agency answers this immediately: the university, after enrolment.
  3. “Can I contact the university myself to confirm my application?” The only acceptable answer is yes.
  4. “What happens if my visa is refused?” Listen for whether they have a plan or a reassurance.
  5. “Why this university for me specifically?” A reason that would apply to anybody is not a reason.
Apply all of this to us

House of Admissions is free to students, and we are paid by universities after enrolment. Ask us the questions above. Ask for it in writing. Contact any university we recommend and confirm it directly. If we ever fail one of these tests, the test is right and we are wrong.

How Do You Verify Independently?

Direct answer

Contact the university. Every UK university has an international admissions office that will confirm whether an application exists in your name and whether an agency represents them. This takes one email, costs nothing, and settles almost every question about an agency’s honesty. Use the contact details from the university’s own website, not from anything the agency gave you.

Unsure about an agency you are already talking to?Tell us what you have been offered and what you are being charged. We will tell you whether it looks normal — even if the answer sends you elsewhere.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Legitimate UK education consultancies are paid by universities after a student enrols. If you are asked for a service fee, processing charge or guarantee deposit, ask exactly what it buys and get the answer in writing.

No. Visa decisions rest entirely with UKVI. A guaranteed-visa claim is either ignorance or dishonesty, and neither is a good basis for handing over your family’s money.

No. UKVI licenses UK universities as student sponsors. It does not certify, approve or license education agents. Any agency advertising itself as “UKVI-certified” is describing a credential that does not exist.

Contact the university directly, using contact details from the university’s own website. International admissions offices will confirm whether an application exists in your name and whether an agency represents them. One email settles it.

Leave immediately. They are advising you to make a false representation on an immigration application, and you carry the consequence, not them. What the consequence is.

It can be. Agencies earn commission from partner universities, which is normal and not itself a problem. It becomes a problem when the recommendation does not change regardless of your profile, grades or goals.

Exactly as written. Ask what we charge — the answer is nothing. Ask who pays us — universities, after enrolment. Ask for it in writing. Contact any university we recommend and confirm independently. We would rather you checked.

Many consultancies, including HOA, are paid by partner universities when a student enrols, so admissions and visa guidance should cost you nothing. Ask in writing what, if anything, you will be charged for.

Most refusals from Nepal come from paperwork, not from weak profiles. We check every document against the UKVI and MoEST requirements before you pay a fee. House of Admissions is free to students at every stage — we are paid by universities after enrolment, never by you.
