Verify your NEB/+2, TU, KU, or PU grades meet each university's entry requirements. Most UK universities accept Nepali 3-year bachelor degrees. Receive and formally accept your offer
Most offers are conditional (must meet specified grade or English requirement) or unconditional (no further conditions). For undergraduate: accept via UCAS. For postgraduate: accept via the university portal and pay your deposit (typically £1,000–£5,000). Paying the deposit triggers CAS issuance — this is what allows you to apply for your UK Student Visa. Compare all offers before accepting.
Apply for your NOC from Nepal MoEST Nepal Mandatory
All Nepali students going abroad for study must obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Nepal's Ministry of Education, Science & Technology before transferring tuition fees or applying for a visa. Apply online at noc.moest.gov.np. Fee: NPR 2,000. Processing: 1–5 working days. Physical office: Sanothimi, Bhaktapur (Sunday–Friday 10AM–4PM). Apply immediately after accepting your offer — do not wait until visa stage.
Receive your CAS and apply for the UK Student Visa Nepal Mandatory
Your university issues a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) once you accept your offer and pay your deposit. You cannot apply for a UK Student Visa without your CAS number. For the visa you must show a bank balance of £10,827 (≈ NPR 21.1 lakhs) for universities outside London, or £14,130 (≈ NPR 27.6 lakhs) for London, held continuously for 28 days in a Nepal Rastra Bank-regulated Class A commercial bank. Book biometrics, receive visa decision, and travel to the UK
After submitting your visa application online, book a biometric appointment at VFS Global in Kathmandu. Standard visa decisions take about 3 weeks (longer in peak season). Priority service is available for an additional fee. Once your visa is approved, book flights (aim to arrive 1–7 days before your course start date), arrange accommodation, and complete the HOA pre-departure checklist.

7 Common Mistakes Nepali Students Make When Applying
Not applying early enough
UK universities fill places on a rolling basis. The same programme that accepts you in November may be full by March. Apply as soon as your documents are ready — never wait for a "perfect" application.
Sending a generic SOP to every university
Using the same Statement of Purpose for every application is immediately obvious and almost always results in rejection. Each SOP must reference the specific programme, modules, faculty research, and career outcome at that institution.
Forgetting the NOC until visa stage
The NOC must be obtained before transferring tuition fees to the UK. Students who apply at visa stage face 1–2 week delays. Apply for your NOC immediately after accepting your university offer — not as an afterthought.
Holding the balance at an unregulated institution
UKVI publishes no approved-bank list for Nepal — named lists exist only for Bangladesh, India, Ghana and Nigeria. The actual requirement is that the institution is regulated by Nepal Rastra Bank and keeps electronic records, which all 20 Class A commercial banks satisfy. A balance held at a co-operative, a finance company or a development bank can still be rejected even when the amount is correct, so confirm your bank is licensed at Class A commercial level before you start the 28-day period.
Breaking the 28-day balance rule mid-period
The required balance must be maintained continuously for 28 days with no dips below the threshold. Any withdrawal that drops the balance — even for a single day — resets the entire 28-day clock.
Submitting un-notarised or untranslated documents
All academic documents must be in English or accompanied by a certified English translation. Notarisation is required for all certificates and transcripts before submission. This is a very common cause of application rejection.
Applying only to highly competitive universities

Planning your UK application from Nepal
Whatever route you take, four things decide whether a UK application succeeds from Nepal, and none of them is your grades alone. English evidence: over 25 UK universities accept a Medium of Instruction letter from Tribhuvan, Kathmandu, Pokhara or Purbanchal instead of IELTS, saving up to NPR 35,000 — though Russell Group universities generally still require IELTS, and NMC nursing registration always does. Money: you must hold GBP 10,827 outside London or GBP 14,130 for London for 28 consecutive days, at any Nepal Rastra Bank-regulated Class A commercial bank; UKVI publishes no approved-bank list for Nepal, so all 20 qualify. Paperwork: the NOC from MoEST is mandatory for every Nepali student going abroad and must be issued before any overseas tuition transfer. Afterwards: the Graduate Route gives 18 months of unrestricted work for applications filed on or after 1 January 2027, or 2 years if filed on or before 31 December 2026, with 3 years for PhD graduates.
