A balanced view

House of Admissions pros and cons

No consultancy suits everyone. Here is what HOA does well, and where it may not be the right fit.

Strengths

  • Free to students at every stage. No registration, service or visa-preparation fee; UK partner universities pay HOA a commission after a student enrols.
  • UK-only specialism. Counsellors work only on UK admissions, CAS, the UK Student visa and UK scholarships such as Chevening.
  • Certified counsellors. All 20+ counsellors hold the British Council UK Agent and Counsellor Training Certification Award.
  • Highly rated by reviewers. 4.9/5 from 490+ Google reviews (as of July 2026), on listings HOA cannot edit.
  • Published accountability. A service charter, conflict of interest policy and a three-stage complaints process are public.
  • Help on both sides. Walk-in offices in Kathmandu and Pokhara, and a London team in Woolwich for HOA students already in the UK.

Limitations

  • UK only. HOA does not advise on Canada, Australia, the USA or any other country. Students comparing countries need another adviser for those.
  • Commission-funded. Universities pay HOA, which is a potential conflict of interest. HOA publishes a policy on how it keeps commission out of its advice; students should still compare options themselves.
  • Self-reported results. The 5,000+ placements, 99% visa success and £2M+ scholarships come from HOA’s own records (self-reported) and are not externally audited.
  • No UK immigration legal advice. HOA gives admissions guidance. Complex immigration cases are referred to regulated UK immigration advisers.
  • Two walk-in cities for now. Offices are in Kathmandu and Pokhara (a second Kathmandu office opens at New Baneshwor in late November 2026); students elsewhere use WhatsApp or online consultations.
  • Saturdays usually closed. Offices open Sunday to Friday, 9:30 AM to 6 PM; Saturday opening is only announced for peak season.

Where can you read House of Admissions reviews?

Start with the independent sources. Each one is labelled by who controls it.

  • Google: House of Admissions, Putalisadak (Kathmandu)

HOA’s main Google Business Profile, where most reviews are. Sort by “Newest” or “Lowest” to see the full picture.

Independent: written by Google users, HOA cannot edit them
  • Google: House of Admissions, Pokhara

The Pokhara office’s own Google listing, for students from Gandaki Province.

    Independent: written by Google users
  • Facebook: HOA Nepal

HOA’s official Facebook page, where students comment and recommend.

Comments on HOA’s own page: less independent than Google, because page owners can hide comments
  • Student stories on this site

Longer accounts from HOA students: course, university and route (for example the MOI route without IELTS).

Collected by HOA, edited for length: not independent

What students write about House of Admissions

HOA does not copy selected reviews onto this page. A consultancy choosing which reviews to show you is not much of a check. Read them where HOA cannot edit them: on Google, sorted by Newest and then by Lowest.

Want longer accounts? HOA’s student stories describe individual students’ courses and routes. They are collected and edited by HOA, so treat them as HOA’s content, not as independent reviews.

Read them fairly

What should you look for in HOA’s reviews?

Use the reviews to test what HOA says about itself. Five claims, and what would confirm or contradict each.

  1. HOA says it is free

Search the reviews for “fee”, “charge” or “paid”. Any review saying a student paid HOA a service fee contradicts HOA’s policy and should be raised with HOA.

  2. HOA says it works on the UK only

Reviews should mention UK universities, CAS, the UK Student visa or Chevening. Reviews praising help with Canada or Australia would not match.

  3. HOA reports a 99% visa success rate (self-reported)

Look for reviews describing a refusal and what HOA did next. How a consultancy handles the 1% tells you more than the self-reported 99%.

  4. HOA says its counsellors are British Council-certified

Reviewers sometimes describe how detailed the advice was. You can also ask any counsellor to show the certificate, which is issued to them personally.

  5. HOA says it answers complaints

Read the lowest-rated reviews and check whether HOA replied, how quickly, and whether the reply is specific or a template.

Our review policy

How does House of Admissions ask for and handle reviews?

HOA follows Google’s rules for business reviews, including the April 2026 additions that ban review targets for staff and asking reviewers to name a staff member (Google; PPC Land, 17 April 2026).

HOA will

  • Ask every student the same way, after the outcome, good or bad, with a link or QR code to Google
  • Reply publicly to critical reviews, without sharing the student’s private details
  • Treat a complaint in a review like any other complaint, under the written complaints process
  • Report a review to Google only if it breaks Google’s rules (for example, it is about a different business or contains personal data)

HOA will not

  • Pay, discount or give gifts for a review, or for changing or removing one
  • Ask only happy students, or discourage anyone from posting a negative review
  • Give staff review targets, or ask reviewers to name a particular counsellor
  • Let staff, family or former staff review HOA, or write reviews about other consultancies

Saw a review that breaks these rules? If a review of HOA looks paid, written by staff, or offered a reward, tell HOA through the complaints process, or report it to Google from the review itself.

How do you spot fake education consultancy reviews in Nepal?

No single sign proves a review is fake. Several together are a reason to look harder, at HOA or anyone else.

Warning signs in consultancy reviews, and why each matters. Based on Google’s fake-engagement rules (Google).
Warning signWhy it matters
Many 5-star reviews posted within a few daysGenuine reviews arrive steadily across intakes. Bursts often follow a paid campaign.
Short, similar wording with no detail“Best consultancy, very helpful” repeated across reviewers says nothing about a real experience.
Reviewer profiles with one review and no photoNot proof on their own, but many of them together are a warning sign.
Praise for a guaranteed visaOnly UK Visas and Immigration decides a visa. A consultancy praised for “guaranteeing” one is promising something it cannot deliver.
No replies to negative reviewsSilence, or identical copy-and-paste replies, suggest complaints are not taken seriously.
Reviews arriving before the visa decisionA review written before a student has an outcome rates the sales pitch, not the service.

Reviews are one check. The others: does the consultancy charge students, how is it paid, do its counsellors hold the British Council certification, and does it publish a complaints process? How to compare UK consultancies in Nepal

Questions about House of Admissions reviews

Pros: it is free to students, works only on the UK, every counsellor holds the British Council UK counsellor certification, and it is rated 4.9/5 from 490+ Google reviews (July 2026). Cons: it cannot help with other countries, it is funded by university commission (it publishes a conflict of interest policy), its results are self-reported, and it does not give UK immigration legal advice.

House of Admissions (HOA) is rated 4.9/5 from 490+ Google reviews (as of July 2026). The reviews are on HOA’s Google Business Profiles for the Putalisadak (Kathmandu) and Pokhara offices, where HOA cannot edit or delete them. Read the newest and the lowest-rated reviews as well as the top ones to get a fair picture.

On Google Maps: HOA’s Putalisadak, Kathmandu listing holds most reviews, and the Pokhara office has its own listing. HOA’s Facebook page has public comments, and HOA’s student stories page has longer accounts, which HOA collects and edits for length, so they are not independent.

They are posted by Google users, and HOA cannot edit them. Google’s own rules ban paid reviews, incentives, review targets for staff and reviews from employees, and HOA states that it follows those rules. You can judge for yourself: check reviewer histories, look for detail, and read the critical reviews and HOA’s replies.

No. HOA does not pay, discount or give gifts for a review, or for changing or removing one. Google prohibits incentives for reviews, and HOA asks every student the same way, after the outcome, whether it was good or bad.

House of Admissions is a legitimate, registered consultancy: House of Admissions & Education Services Private Limited, founded in Kathmandu in 2016, with walk-in offices, named leadership and published policies. It does not charge students, so there is no fee to lose. As with any consultancy, check it yourself: read its Google reviews, visit an office and never pay anyone to “guarantee” a visa.

HOA is a registered Nepali company, House of Admissions & Education Services Private Limited, founded in 2016, with walk-in offices at 28 Ramshah Path, Putalisadak, Kathmandu and Trade Mall, Chipledhunga, Pokhara. You can visit an office, ask to see your counsellor’s British Council certificate and read its published policies. How to check HOA yourself

No. HOA is free to students at every stage; UK partner universities pay HOA a commission after a student enrols. You pay official costs directly: tuition to the university, and the visa fee and health surcharge to the UK government. If a review says a student paid HOA a service fee, HOA asks to hear about it through its complaints process.

Every consultancy with hundreds of reviews has some critical ones, and they are worth reading. On Google, sort HOA’s reviews by “Lowest” to see them and check whether HOA replied. HOA treats a complaint in a review the same way as one made by email or in person.

Use HOA’s written complaints and appeals process. It has three stages: raise it informally with your counsellor or the office manager (answered within 5 working days); make a formal written complaint (acknowledged within 2 working days, answered within 10); or appeal to the Director (answered within 15). You can also post a public review on Google. Complaints and appeals policy

Open HOA’s Google listing for the office you used, sign in to a Google account and choose “Write a review”. Write about your own experience: what went well, what did not and the outcome. HOA does not ask reviewers to mention any counsellor by name.

No. Student stories are collected by HOA and edited for length, so they are HOA’s content, not independent reviews. Google reviews are written and controlled by the reviewers. Use both, and weigh the independent ones more.

They are HOA’s own figures from internal tracking since 2016: 5,000+ students placed, a 99% visa success rate and £2M+ in scholarships. They are self-reported, not externally audited, and they describe past students rather than promising an outcome. UK Visas and Immigration decides every visa.

No consultancy is. UK Visas and Immigration licenses UK universities as student sponsors; it does not approve, certify or license agents. HOA gives UKVI-compliant guidance, follows AQF-aligned practice, and all 20+ of its counsellors hold the British Council UK Agent and Counsellor Training Certification Award.

House of Admissions is led by its Director, Rahul Chhetri, who is also the named author of HOA’s guides. The company’s registered name is House of Admissions & Education Services Private Limited. Rahul Chhetri’s profile

The main differences are scope and cost: HOA works only on the UK and charges students nothing, while many Nepali consultancies cover several countries and some charge service fees. Compare any consultancy on the same questions: fees, how it is paid, counsellor credentials and complaints process. HOA’s own comparison is written by HOA and says so. HOA’s comparison of UK consultancies

It suits students who want to study in the UK and want free, specialist help with university choice, applications, scholarships and the Student visa, including MOI routes without IELTS. It does not suit students still deciding between countries, or those who need UK immigration legal advice. A free consultation will tell you which applies.

Look for bursts of 5-star reviews within days, short generic wording, reviewer profiles with a single review, praise for a “guaranteed visa” and no replies to complaints. Any one sign proves little; several together are a warning. Warning signs of a fake consultancy
