How We Ranked UK Consultancies in Nepal

Four criteria, in order of weight. Each one is something you can check yourself.

  1. UK focus

A consultancy that works only on the UK tends to know its rules in more depth: CAS, credibility interviews, the 28-day funds rule and university sponsor ratings. This criterion carries the most weight.

  2. Cost to you, published

Free counselling and free applications rank above unpublished fees. If a website does not say, we record “not published” rather than guess.

  3. Counsellor credentials

The British Council trains and certifies individual counsellors. We give credit where a consultancy says its counsellors hold that certification.

  4. Track record and reach

Founding year and offices, as each consultancy publishes them. Where a year is not published, we say so.

Left out on purpose: visa success rates and student numbers. Every consultancy publishes its own, measured in its own way, so they cannot be compared fairly.

The 2026 Ranking: UK Consultancies in Nepal

Each entry says why it is placed where it is, what is worth knowing, and who it suits. Facts are as each consultancy publishes them, checked on 14 October 2026.

  1. Number 1: House of Admissions (HOA)

    • UK only
    • Free at every stage
    • Since: 2016
    Why it ranks here
HOA is the only consultancy on this list, and one of the few in Nepal, that works on UK admissions only. It is free to students at every stage, all 20+ of its counsellors hold the British Council’s UK counsellor certification, and it publishes how it is paid.
    Worth knowing
HOA does not advise on Australia, Canada, the USA or Ireland. If you have not yet chosen a country, a multi-country consultancy can compare them for you. HOA’s student and visa figures are its own, from internal tracking since 2016.
    Suits
Students who have chosen the UK and want one team that knows its rules in depth.

  2. Number 2: Real Dreams Educational Consultancy

    • UK first, plus Australia
    • Fees not published
    • Since: 2003
    Why it ranks here
After HOA, Real Dreams is the most UK-focused consultancy here: it describes itself as a UK admissions specialist, names only one other country, Australia, on its website, and has worked with students since 2003, with branches well beyond Kathmandu.
    Worth knowing
It also places students in Australia, so the UK is its main focus rather than its only one. Its Kathmandu page does not publish service fees.
    Suits
Students outside the Kathmandu Valley who want a UK-focused office nearby.

  3. Number 3: Uniladder Consultancy

    • UK-led, plus 3 countries
    • Free consultation; later fees not published
    • Since: Not published
    Why it ranks here
Uniladder’s website leads with UK admissions, from application to visa and post-arrival support, under a UK-specific brand.
    Worth knowing
It also promotes study in Australia, Canada and the USA, so the UK is its lead destination rather than its only one. Its website offers a free consultation and mentions a deposit payment for processing, but does not publish fees for later stages or its founding year. Ask for both in writing.
    Suits
Students leaning towards the UK who may still consider Australia, Canada or the USA.

  4. Number 4: IDP Nepal

    • Multi-country (6)
    • Free counselling
    • Since: Global company; no Nepal start year published
    Why it ranks here
IDP offers free counselling, is a global education company that co-owns IELTS, and appears on UK universities’ lists of approved agents for Nepal.
    Worth knowing
It covers six countries, so the UK is one option among several. Its Nepal page lists one office, in Kathmandu.
    Suits
Students still deciding between the UK and other English-speaking countries.

  5. Number 5: AECC Nepal

    • Multi-country (8+)
    • Free counselling
    • Since: 2008 (per its Baneshwor page)
    Why it ranks here
AECC offers free counselling, has four branches in Nepal, and appears on UK universities’ lists of approved agents for Nepal.
    Worth knowing
It covers eight or more countries, including several in Europe, so its counsellors work across many systems at once.
    Suits
Students comparing the UK with Europe or Australia.

  6. Number 6: KIEC

    • Multi-country (19)
    • Free counselling
    • Since: 2006
    Why it ranks here
KIEC has offered free counselling since 2006 and has the widest branch network of any consultancy on this list.
    Worth knowing
It covers 19 countries, the broadest range here, so UK admissions are a small part of its work.
    Suits
Students far from Kathmandu who want to compare many countries in person.

Why a UK-Only Consultancy Ranks First

UK admissions has its own rules, and they changed a great deal in 2026. A counsellor who works only on the UK deals with them every day:

  • The 28-day funds rule. Money must be held for 28 consecutive days, in an acceptable account, before the visa application. How it works.
  • Credibility interviews. UKVI interviews many Nepali applicants, and preparation makes the difference. The questions.
  • University sponsor ratings. Since 1 June 2026, UK universities are rated on their visa refusal rates, which makes them more careful about whom they give a CAS. What it means for you.
  • Graduate visa changes. Applications made from 1 January 2027 get 18 months instead of two years for bachelor’s and master’s graduates.

The honest trade-off: a UK-only consultancy will not compare the UK with Canada or Australia for you. If you have not yet chosen a country, start with a multi-country consultancy, and come back when the UK is your choice.

How to Read Reddit Advice About Consultancies

Reddit can be useful: you hear from students, not salespeople. It also has limits. Anyone can post, accounts are anonymous, and some recommendations come from people paid to make them.

Signs a recommendation is worth trusting

  • The poster describes their own application in detail: course, intake, what went right and wrong.
  • Their account history shows real activity, not only consultancy posts.
  • They mention problems as well as praise.
  • The details match what the consultancy publishes on its own website.

Warning signs, on Reddit or anywhere

  • A promise that your visa is guaranteed. No one can guarantee a UK visa.
  • A claim that a consultancy is approved or certified by UKVI. UKVI licenses universities, not consultancies.
  • “British Council-approved” agency. The British Council certifies counsellors, not agencies.
  • An offer to arrange your bank balance for you, or pressure to pay a deposit before you have an offer.

How to Choose a UK Consultancy in Nepal: Five Checks

Whichever consultancy you choose, including HOA, make these checks before you sign anything.

  1. Decide on the country first

If the UK is your choice, a UK-only consultancy suits you. If not, start with a multi-country one.

  2. Ask for every fee in writing

From the first meeting to the visa decision, including deposits and any fee if your visa is refused.

  3. Check the counsellor, not just the company

Ask whether your counsellor holds the British Council’s UK counsellor certification, and ask to see it.

  4. Test their UK knowledge

Ask about the 28-day funds rule, credibility interviews and university sponsor ratings. Vague answers are a warning sign.

  5. Verify reviews and claims yourself

Read Google reviews, check claims on the consultancy’s own website, and treat anonymous recommendations with care.

Frequently Asked Questions

There is no official ranking, on Reddit or anywhere else, and Reddit threads reflect individual experiences. On the criteria set out on this page, House of Admissions ranks first: it works on the UK only, it is free at every stage, and all 20+ of its counsellors hold the British Council’s UK counsellor certification. HOA wrote this ranking, so check every claim yourself.

No. House of Admissions wrote it and ranks itself first. Every fact about the other five consultancies comes from their own websites, checked on 14 October 2026, and is linked so you can verify it. No consultancy paid to appear, and none was asked.

Yes, at every stage. UK universities pay HOA a referral commission when a student enrols, and the student pays nothing. HOA earns nothing if a student does not enrol.

If you have already chosen the UK, specialisation helps: UK admissions has its own rules on CAS, credibility interviews, the 28-day funds rule and university sponsor ratings. If you are still comparing countries, a multi-country consultancy can show you the options side by side.

Some do and some do not. HOA, IDP, AECC and KIEC say on their websites that counselling is free; two of the six consultancies here do not publish their fees. Ask any consultancy, in writing, for every charge from first meeting to visa.

Yes. Undergraduates apply through UCAS, and most postgraduates apply directly to each university. HOA’s self-apply guide explains every step.

Ask to see the certificate in the counsellor’s own name. The British Council certifies individual counsellors who complete its UK Agent and Counsellor Training; it does not approve or accredit consultancies as businesses.

Nothing official. UKVI licenses UK universities as student sponsors; it does not approve, certify or license consultancies. Treat the phrase as a warning sign.

The figures cannot be compared. Each consultancy measures and publishes its own rate, and none is independently audited, so this ranking leaves them out. HOA’s own figure is 99%, self-reported.

HOA has an office at Trade Mall, Chipledhunga, Pokhara. Real Dreams, AECC and KIEC also list Pokhara branches on their websites. See HOA’s Pokhara guide.

HOA checked the consultancies most often named in 2026 articles on UK consultancies in Nepal and on UK universities’ published agent lists. It is not a complete list of every consultancy in Nepal.

Every quarter. Each consultancy’s facts were last checked on 14 October 2026. If a fact here is out of date, tell HOA and it will be corrected.
