What Makes a UK Visa Take Longer from Nepal?

  1. A credibility interview. Being selected adds time regardless of outcome. What it involves →
  2. Document verification. A transcript or bank statement the caseworker wants to verify with the issuing body can add weeks.
  3. Peak season volume. June to September is the busiest window because of the September intake.
  4. A previous refusal on your record invites closer examination.
  5. Incomplete submission. A missing TB certificate or an unreadable statement means the file waits.
Your passport is held throughout

VFS keeps your passport while the application is processed, so you cannot travel internationally. Students book a biometric appointment shortly before a family trip or another country’s appointment and then discover the conflict. Check your calendar first.

When Should You Apply to Make Your Intake?

Direct answer

Work backwards eight weeks from your course start date to your biometric appointment. That absorbs the 15 working day target, peak-season slippage, and the days lost between CAS issue and appointment availability. If eight weeks is not available, priority service is worth considering — but only if your documents are genuinely complete.
