UK Visa Refused from Nepal — Should You Reapply or Request a Review?
A refusal is not the end of the route, but the decision you make in the next few days determines whether you make the next intake or lose a year.

For most Student route refusals from Nepal, reapplying with corrected evidence is faster and more likely to succeed than an administrative review. A review only corrects a caseworking error — it cannot consider new documents. If the refusal reason is something you can fix and evidence, fix it and reapply.
This page covers the reapply-versus-review decision. For why refusals happen see the refusal guide; for disclosing it later see declaring a previous refusal. For how a review works step by step, see the administrative review guide; for why refusals happen, see common refusal reasons.
- Administrative review
- Corrects a caseworking error only
- Cannot do
- Consider new evidence you did not submit
- Reapplying
- Full new application, new fee, new evidence
- Usually right
- Reapply, if the reason is fixable
- Review is right
- Only if the caseworker plainly misread what you sent
- Either way
- The refusal must be declared on future applications
- Do not
- Submit an identical application again
What Should You Do First After a Refusal?
- Read the refusal letter properly. It states the paragraph of the Immigration Rules relied on and the reasoning. Everything else follows from that.
- Identify whether the reason is factual or evidential. A caseworker who misread a document you did submit is a different problem from one who correctly noted a document you did not.
- Do not submit the same application again. The same evidence produces the same decision, and a second refusal is worse than the first.
- Check your timeline. Whether you can still make the intake often decides the strategy on its own.
Reapply or Administrative Review — Which Is Right?
| Refusal reason | Usually right | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Balance below the required amount | Reapply | Fix the balance, hold 28 days, resubmit |
| Funds not held for 28 consecutive days | Reapply | Evidential, not an error — start a clean 28-day period |
| Not satisfied you are a genuine student | Reapply | Needs a stronger application and better interview preparation |
| Document missing that you did submit | Review | This is a caseworking error, which is what review exists for |
| Figures misread from a statement you provided | Review | No new evidence needed — the error is on the face of the file |
This is the point most often misunderstood. An administrative review examines whether the caseworker made an error on what was already submitted. If your answer to the refusal is “but I have that document, I just did not send it”, a review will fail and you will have lost weeks.
How Do You Make the Second Application Stronger?
Address the stated reason explicitly, and do not change everything else. A caseworker reading your second application will see the first. A file that fixes the named problem and is otherwise consistent reads as a corrected application. One that has been rebuilt from scratch reads as a different story.

For most Student route refusals from Nepal, reapplying is faster and more likely to succeed. An administrative review only corrects a caseworking error and cannot consider documents you did not originally submit. Review is right only when the caseworker plainly misread what you sent.
No. A review examines whether an error was made on the evidence already submitted. New evidence requires a fresh application. This is the single most common misunderstanding after a refusal.
There is no mandatory waiting period for a Student route refusal. You can apply as soon as you have genuinely fixed the problem — which, if the issue is your 28-day balance, means a complete new holding period.
It must be declared, and it invites closer examination. It does not bar you. A second application that visibly addresses the stated reason and is otherwise consistent with the first is treated on its merits. How to declare it.
There is no general right of appeal for Student route refusals. The routes available are administrative review, where a caseworking error is alleged, or a fresh application. Anyone offering to "appeal" your student visa refusal for a fee is describing something that does not exist in this form.
Yes. Your CAS may need reissuing and the university needs to know your timeline has changed. Universities deal with this regularly; concealing it causes more problems than disclosing it.
Many countries ask whether you have been refused a visa anywhere. Answer honestly — non-disclosure discovered later is treated far more seriously than the original refusal.
The deadline is set out in your refusal letter; for applications made outside the UK it is usually 28 days. Do not miss it if you plan to use it.
