TU Transcript Delays — How Nepali Students Lose an Intake Without Noticing
Every cycle, students with offers, funds and a clean profile miss an intake because a piece of paper took longer than they assumed. It is entirely avoidable.

Start your transcript request months before you need it, not when the university asks. Tribhuvan transcript processing slows considerably in peak season, and the transcript gates your NOC, your CAS and your visa. A provisional certificate helps with some universities and is not reliably enough for MoEST.
This page covers getting the document. For what your grades mean once you have it see TU GPA equivalency; for NOC rejections see why NOCs get rejected.
- The mistake
- Requesting the transcript when the university asks for it
- What it gates
- Your NOC, your CAS, and therefore your visa
- Peak season
- Slower — everyone requests at the same time
- Provisional certificate
- Helps with some universities; unreliable for MoEST
- Better
- The university’s official completion letter alongside it
- Start
- As soon as your final results are published
- If it will not arrive in time
- Defer to the next intake rather than rush the visa
Why One Document Stops Everything
The transcript is not just a university requirement. It sits in a chain, and each link waits for the one before it.
- Transcript → needed for your unconditional offer.
- Unconditional offer → needed for the MoEST NOC, which names one institution.
- NOC → needed before any Nepali bank will release tuition.
- Tuition paid → usually needed before the university issues your CAS.
- CAS → needed to apply for the visa.
- Visa → 15 working days standard, longer in peak season.
Six sequential steps, each with its own queue, in the months when every one of those queues is longest. A transcript that takes six weeks instead of two does not cost you six weeks — it can cost you the intake, because everything behind it shifts.
Does a Provisional Certificate Work?
Sometimes for the university, unreliably for MoEST. Many UK universities will issue an offer on a provisional certificate plus an official completion letter. The NOC process is stricter about evidence that a qualification is complete. Do not assume a provisional certificate carries you through the whole chain — it frequently does not.
If you are using one, ask your university for a formal letter confirming completion and the award to accompany it. That combination is considerably stronger than the provisional certificate alone.
When Should You Actually Request It?
| Document | Request by | Why then |
|---|---|---|
| TU transcript | As soon as results publish | Longest and least predictable queue |
| Character certificate | With the transcript | Same office, one trip |
| MoEST NOC | On unconditional offer | 1–5 working days, but needs the offer first |
| Bank 28-day period | ~2 months before applying | 28 consecutive days, plus evidence dated within 31 days |
| Visa application | 8 weeks before course start | 15 working days standard, longer in peak |
What If It Genuinely Will Not Arrive in Time?
Defer to the next intake. A January start with complete documents is a better outcome than a rushed September application with a provisional certificate, a compressed 28-day window and a visa submitted with two weeks to spare. Universities defer routinely and it costs nothing but time you were going to lose anyway.

Frequently Asked Questions
It varies by campus and by season, and slows considerably in peak months when every graduating student requests at once. The practical answer is: longer than you assume, which is why you should request it as soon as your results publish rather than when a university asks.
Many UK universities will issue an offer on a provisional certificate plus an official completion letter from the university. Ask for both together — the combination is considerably stronger than the provisional certificate alone.
Unreliably. The NOC process is stricter about evidence that a qualification is complete than most universities are. Do not assume a provisional certificate carries you through the whole chain. NOC rejection causes.
Because six steps run sequentially — transcript, offer, NOC, tuition transfer, CAS, visa — and each has its own queue. A four-week transcript delay pushes everything behind it into a busier period, which is how students lose a whole intake.
As soon as your final results are published, before you have an offer and before anyone asks for it. It is the longest and least predictable queue in the chain.
Defer to the next intake. A January start with complete documents beats a rushed September application with a compressed 28-day bank window and a visa submitted with two weeks to spare. Universities defer routinely.
Yes. You will need the transcript for the university, for MoEST, and potentially for a UK ENIC assessment or an employer later. Requesting several at once costs little and saves a second trip in the busiest possible month.
Usually not for final documents. Universities and MoEST generally expect the transcript issued by the awarding university.

Most refusals from Nepal come from paperwork, not from weak profiles. We check every document against the UKVI and MoEST requirements before you pay a fee. House of Admissions is free to students at every stage — we are paid by universities after enrolment, never by you.
