For a BSc CSIT or BE Computer graduate, this is one of the strongest subjects available. Entry-level data roles commonly pay £30,000–£40,000, which can meet the new-entrant salary rate (at least £33,400) and approaches the £41,700 general threshold. The risk is competition: everyone in your cohort had the same idea.

Who Should Actually Study This?

If you hold a BSc CSIT from Tribhuvan or a BE Computer from IOE, you are the target applicant and you will get offers. If your degree is BBA or BBS, a conversion MSc will admit you, but you will be competing for jobs against people who have been programming since Grade 11 — go in knowing that.

The competition point nobody makes

Data science is the single most popular UK master’s choice among South Asian applicants. That means strong offers and weak differentiation. The graduates who convert it into a sponsored job are usually the ones with a portfolio — a GitHub, a Kaggle record, a real project — not the ones with the best transcript.

Does the Salary Reach the Threshold?

Entry-level data analyst and junior data scientist roles commonly start at £30,000–£40,000, higher in London. Against the £41,700 Skilled Worker general threshold, that is reachable at entry in strong cases and within a couple of years in most. Few subjects can say that. How the switch works →

Data Science or Cyber Security?

Both suit a CSIT background and both pay well. Choose data science if you enjoy statistics and modelling; choose cyber security if you prefer systems and networks. Cyber has less competition from your own cohort, which matters more than most applicants expect.

Yes. BSc CSIT from Tribhuvan University is a recognised four-year degree covering programming, statistics and databases, and is accepted for direct entry at a wide range of UK universities.

Tuition typically £14,000–£22,000 — roughly NPR 27–43 lakhs — plus £1,722 in visa fee and Immigration Health Surcharge, plus maintenance of £10,539 (£10,827 from 30 November 2026). Full breakdown.

In practice, yes. The graduates who convert this degree into a sponsored role usually have a GitHub, a Kaggle record or a real project to point at. The transcript gets you the interview; the portfolio gets you the offer.

Both suit a CSIT background. Data science if you like statistics and modelling; cyber security if you prefer systems and networks. Cyber has less competition from your own cohort, which is worth more than it sounds.

Usually 6.0–6.5. Over 25 UK universities accept a Medium of Instruction letter from TU, KU, PU or Purbanchal instead, which saves up to NPR 35,000. Russell Group universities generally still require IELTS.

Most expect some maths, statistics or programming in your first degree. Check the prerequisites listed on each course page.
