MPH Is Not a Clinical Qualification
This is the most important thing to understand before applying, and the point most often misunderstood by Nepali applicants. An MPH is a population-health degree. It does not register you with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, does not license you to practise medicine or nursing, and is not a route to clinical work in the NHS.

Who Gets Accepted from Nepal
- MBBS, BDS, BSc Nursing, BPH: accepted directly and competitively.
- Health-adjacent bachelor’s such as pharmacy, physiotherapy, microbiology or nutrition: widely accepted.
- Social science, statistics or development studies: accepted at many universities, particularly with health-sector work experience.
- Field experience with an NGO or health programme in Nepal counts significantly and often offsets a weaker transcript.
Nepal-Specific Career Value
An MPH from a UK university has particular weight in Nepal’s own development and health sector, where international NGOs, bilateral programmes and government health projects recruit for exactly this qualification. Unlike some subjects, returning to Nepal after an MPH is a strong outcome rather than a fallback — which is worth weighing against the Skilled Worker route when you plan.

Entry Requirements by Nepali Qualification
UK universities publish requirements as “2:1 or equivalent”, which is not directly usable if you hold a Tribhuvan, Kathmandu, Pokhara or Purbanchal transcript. This table maps the common Nepali qualifications to what actually happens at application.

Yes, on the Graduate Route — two years for applications filed on or before 31 December 2026, or 18 months for those filed on or after 1 January 2027. Converting to a Skilled Worker visa is achievable but more competitive than in nursing, because public health roles are largely public sector and are not on the shortage occupation list.
